One last look before heading back inside. ATVs are running by and there’s some shooting going on so the dogs are a bit noisier than I’d like. Of course, I type that now as everything but the birds quiet down. The thatchers. The doves. The jays and so many more. Hear the ravens in the distance calling out. Rush of the wind among the mesquite, creosote, juniper, cacti, and oak. My head is not happy to be awake and in the sun and wind, but my heart and soul most definitely are. To experience such beauty amidst the pain, uncertainty, and creeping darkness is something else. (And then the engines start again…)
