ThrowbackThursday to October 1, 2015 in #Loveland, #Colorado… When @thelifeofalan and I eloped after having to postpone our big wedding celebration multiple times (health, surgery, family drama, etc.).
We even almost eloped in Seattle earlier in the summer but my now-husband was hesitant, and I misread that as him hesitant to get married. It was actually because we were going to have an impromptu small gathering of people and some of them seemed like something weird was going on between some of them. He was afraid to tarnish our memories, and he was actually spot on. Plus, there were other people who we’d have wanted to be there so if we were going to have anyone, we wanted everyone! Colorado allows for self-solemnization, however, so Zoe and Cooper were our witnesses. (Well… Them and the guy smoking a bowl on his balcony overlooking the trail, actually. #Happy420 by then, as you’ll see!)
We were stopped over in Colorado on an extended stay when family said not to come back East quite yet due to some nasty tropical weather, which was crazy as we’d just been #BrokenDownInBisbee for over two weeks and hit a tropical storm remnant there, too. It just seemed right, and we were scouting for a location for later that evening when we joked that we were talking like we were saying vows then. We actually decided to exchange them on the hiking trail and it turned out to be 4:19p when we finalized it all. Perfect timing! (The hotel said we could smoke out back, afterall!)
This was #sunset that night. Gorgeous. We had a great dinner and continued on our roadtrip not long after that night. Maybe a day or two later? Spent time in Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin for the next week after that. We were barely done with the trip, either! Sad we didn’t get to finally throw our reception this year nor go on the anniversary trip after (both postponed yet again, now due to this stupid pandemic) but someday soon, I hope. Can’t wait to see the beautiful Colorado skies again. 🙏
PS Two months #SeizureFree now! 🥰
