You never know what you’ll find on garbage day, so always wear appropriate gear… 😅
Huge thanks to Maddie for warning us this Western Diamondback Rattlesnake was chilling by the recycling yesterday. She thankfully ran away from it after warning all of us. At that point, her and the other dogs wanted to go out but a marathon of roadrunners was on patrol so I didn’t want to disturb them. Was wondering if they were hunting lizards, birds, or snakes, and do wonder if that is why this snake ended up hiding. Let the dogs go finally when I thought they’d left but two juveniles were still there and got scared off. The snake was initially behind and pattially on top of a broken down box in the corner, blending in insanely well. Other birds were circling and going crazy once it started to hiss back at Maddie’s bark.
(@thelifeofalan has better shots and videos to post later. Taken outdoors, too. Our good camera died just as this slithered through the gate so we grabbed his phone first. This was from mine later, taken through a window…)
We also found a very dead and decomposing rattlesnake stuck between one fence and the snake fencing over on that side. Guess the fencing worked! Don’t want them dead but also don’t want any of us hurt, either!
